All 3D Labs’ 3D printing post processing service centres around two of the most advanced solutions for 3D printed plastic parts available today: PolyShot and VaporFuse from DyeMansion.

Whether you need your MJF parts to have a surface finish that competes with injection moulding, or you have parts 3D printed by selective laser sintering (SLS) that need smoothing, All 3D Labs post processing offers a quick and effective solution.

Depending on the desired properties of the finished parts, the mechanical PolyShot Surfacing or chemical VaporFuse Surfacing solutions are available.

Polyshot-finished parts are tactile, matt-gloss and exhibit greater scratch resistance. Ideal for parts 3D printed in harder polymers (e.g., Nylon PA 11 or PA 12).

Vaporfuse-finished parts go a step further, with a fully sealed and washable glossy surface that can even be used in food-contact applications. Vaporfuse-finishing is suitable for all commonly used hard and flexible polymers (e.g., PA 11, PA 12 and TPUs).

Polyshot vs Vaporfuse

With PolyShot Surfacing(PSS) and VaporFuse Surfacing(VFS), you have a range of finishes available. Depending on your needs for the part, the appropriate process with its individual advantages can be selected.

PolyShot Surfacing makes the treated parts feel smoother and delivers a matt-gloss. While VaporFuse Surfacing produces an even more uniform surface by dissolving the top layer of the surface. As a result, the part feels even smoother after the VFS process and has a glossy surface.

Your 3D Printing Finish

The images below show a raw part straight from the printer and after it has been post-processed. The part has then been dyed black. By offering this range of finishing we can achieve the desired
finish you need for your parts. This allows your prototype or end-user parts to stand out. Please note the material used is EOS pa2200.
